DC Brau: American Roots Concert Series - The Revelers @ Hill Center

  • Hill Center at Old Navy Hospital

Enjoy a cold DC Brau with a side of Louisiana zydeco at this month's Hill Center American Roots Music Series concert on the plaza when they welcome The Revelers -- a supergroup which combines swamp-pop, Cajun, country, blues and zydeco into a powerful tonic of roots music that could only come from southwest Louisiana. Register here.

The Revelers, founding members of the Red Stick Ramblers and The Pine Leaf Boys — “unquestionably the two groups at the vanguard of the Louisiana cultural renaissance” — have joined together to form a Louisiana supergroup which combines swamp-pop, Cajun, country, blues and zydeco into a powerful tonic of roots music that could only come from southwest Louisiana.

DC Brau: BBQ Bootcamp w/Andrew Evans @ Hill Center

  • Hill Center

DC Brau is a proud sponsor of BBQ Bootcamp with Pitmaster Andrew Evans of The BBQ Joint.  The Barbecue Boot Camp series is sponsored in part by DC Brau, and the DC Brau beer is sure to be flowing! Classes highlight the wide-ranging possibilities of cooking on a grill or in a smoker.  Get your tickets here!

Cooking brisket is both science and art. It’s singularly the hardest cut of meat to cook consistently. In this class, we will discuss both the challenges posed by the science of brisket and the art of cooking it. Evans will teach you that with any smoker (and some are much better than others), you can learn the two essential methods he has categorized: “Fast then Slow” and “Slow and Moist.” Both will propel you further into the never-ending quest for the perfect brisket. Beans and collards will also be served.

DC Brewer’s Guild’s Kathy Rizzo to host History & Hops at the Heurich House Museum

Kathy Rizzo hosts the next installment of the Heurich House Museum’s all-star History & Hops series. On Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6:30-8:30pm, the DC Brewers’ Guild Executive Director will host the monthly beer-themed after-hours event, giving visitors the chance to mingle with a DC beer insider while also touring through the historic Brewmaster’s Castle.

The DC Brewers’ Guild is the first modern brewers guild in DC and was founded in 2014 at the Heurich House Museum, home of DC’s most successful Brewmaster. When the Chr. Heurich Brewing Company closed in 1956, the production of beer for distribution was halted in Washington, DC. It wasn’t until 2011, with the founding of DC Brau, that beer production and distribution manufacturing returned to the district. Focused on connecting local craft beer producers and fostering community development and pride, the DC Brewers’ Guild has gone on to host annual events such as DC Beer Week and Hopfest. At History & Hops, visitors will be able to enjoy local beer in the room where the DC Brewers Guild was formed.

Kathy Rizzo has spearheaded the development of the DC Brewers Guild, expanding its role in local beer promotion. Growing up in the food service business, Kathy’s love of hospitality and the food and beverage industries have given her particular insight into the world of DC Beer. Now, she’ll share this wealth of knowledge, and a few of her favorite local beers, with History & Hops visitors as they gain unparalleled access to mingle and discuss her years of experience with the DC Brewers’ Guild and craft beer in the District of Columbia.

Tickets for History & Hops hosted by Kathy Rizzo are $30 per person and include tastings, snacks and tours of the Heurich House Museum. Guests must be 21 or older. All proceeds benefit the preservation and growth of the Heurich House Museum.

To purchase tickets, click here.

About History & Hops: History & Hops is a monthly series at the Heurich House Museum that highlights the home’s brewery-related history. The museum preserves the former Dupont Circle home of D.C.'s most successful brewer Christian Heurich (1842-1945) and enriches the cultural life of Washington, DC. Every third Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, the museum partners with local beer insiders for house tours and beer tastings. Self-guided tours through Heurich’s well-preserved Victorian mansion will feature information about his brewery and the D.C. region’s rich brewing history. All proceeds benefit the preservation and growth of the Heurich House Museum.

Tickets are non-refundable. If you purchased tickets to an event and are no longer able to attend, we thank you for your support of our museum. Please be advised that we may refuse service to anyone who appears intoxicated upon arrival or during the event.

Right Proper Brewing Company: Spirits Rejoice Beer Release @ Boundary Stone

  • Boundary Stone

Spirits Rejoice! A gin-inspired farmhouse ale beer release at Boundary Stone

Right Proper's collaborative beer with friends at Fonta Flora, Jester King and Scratch is fermented with our house mixed-culture of wild yeasts and inspired by gin.  They infused their brewing water with juniper branches and dried citrus and hopped and dry-hopped the beer with Motueka and Hallertau Blanc.

Also served will be Right Proper’s Songlines, a hoppy farmhouse ale fermented with a house mixed-culture of wild yeasts and heavily hopped and dry-hopped with Galaxy from Australia and Motueka and Nelson Sauvin from New Zealand. Highly aromatic with bright citrus, lemongrass and tropical flavors.

As well as Raised by Wolves, a medium-bodied, aromatic, dry-hopped pale ale loaded with lush and tropical hop character. Not quite an IPA, but more pungent than a typical pale ale.
